Michelin's Lexington, SC site is home to its radial passenger and light truck plant along with an Earthmover facility. Established in 1981, Michelin's passenger plant produces tires for family sedan, minivan and luxury touring and high performance cars. The plant occupies 1.2 million square feet and employs approximately 1,700 people.
In 1997, Michelin expanded the site and added the Earthmover facility. This plant produces some of the largest tires in the world for surface mining vehicles. The Earthmover facility also occupies 1.2 million square feet, and it employs approximately 700 employees.
